Last Sunday, with cricketing weather of 80 degrees in fall, Yakusari Cricket Club played their final T20 game in Commonwealth Cricket League match against Mumbai Express at Van Courtland Park. Yakusari entering the match with 4 wins and 1 loss, this game was poised to be the most important match to end the season.
Yakusuri captain, Anthony Madray won the toss and elected to field. His brave decision was based on his players’ ability to bowl and field well. He always look up to his bowlers with pride and confident. Mumbai thought it was a favorable opportunity to get first strike. Yakusuri bowlers, Tillack Parasram (Buckbai) and Airshad Khan open the new ball and live up to their captain expectation.
In the first and third overs Tillack Parasram strike, removing the opening pair. Airshad on the other end kept bowling with a tight line, length and accuracy only giving away 14 runs off his 4 overs. Shameer and Kelly then took the ball and they both crumbled Mumbai middle order batting.
Wickets kept falling constantly, no sooner Mumbai was pushed against a stone wall, 62 for 5 in 10 overs. Abhi was the only batsman to show some resistance before he was bowled by Shameer for a well-played 62. Excellent bowling from Parasram 4 for 28, Shameer 3 for 26 and Kelly 2 for 21. Mumbai was all out for 123.
Yakusari started their innings losing a wicket on the very first delivery. Dinesh Mangroo and Tuesday Clements then batted sensible, working the ball around for ones, twos and putting away all the loose balls to the boundary. Together they put on a solid partnership of 87 in 10 overs before Tuesday depart, caught at deep long on for 28.
Hard hitting Dinesh kept tormenting Mumbai bowlers and entertained the crowd with some flamboyant shots hitting a brilliant 63 not out which include 7 fours and 2 sixes, as Yakusari victory came in the 13th overs.
