On August 24th at Marine Park C the Finals of the Brooklyn Cricket League 40/40 competition, St. Lucia vs Emperial, St. Lucia 221 all out from 36 allotted overs, Peter Francis a brilliant 81. Emperial 134 all out. Bowling for St. Lucia, Victor Mangal picked up 5 wickets. St. Lucia winning their first BCL Championship by 87 runs.
On August 23rd at Marine Park A, Emperial vs Middlesex semifinal
Emperial won the toss and elected to take first strike, at the end of their allotted 37 overs they scored 264 runs for 8 wickets. Roy Bryan produced a well composed superb 136 runs, (15 x 4s, 3 x 6s) Don Parris 22, and Bjore Brown 20. Bowling for Middlesex, Captain Mark Audain, 8 overs, 1 maiden, 33 runs, 3 wickets, off spinner Jawanza Young, 5 overs, 38 runs, 3 wickets, and Kavir Singh, 7 overs, 37 runs, and 2 wickets.
Middlesex was skittle out for 98 runs, Kenneth Pierre topped scored with a classy 45 runs, Mohamed Tamim 11 and Mark Audain 10 was the only other batsmen to get into double figures. Middlesex was the victim of some very poor umpiring decisions, which broke the backbone of Middlesex batting. Bowling for Emperial, veteran left arm spinner, Shaddi Khan 6.2 overs, 12 runs, 4 wickets, Young Bangladesh off spinner T. Sami 6 overs, 13 runs, 4 wickets.
Emperial winning by 166 runs.
The match was not played in good spirit of the game, Emperial using an illegal player A. Edwards who did not even played a regular season game but played in the semifinal. Middlesex felt that the rules should be applied to all teams and not just some teams.
