USA Friendship Cup T20

The Houston Eagles and the Boom Boom Blasters are two of the first teams to confirm their International stars who are coming in to participate in the upcoming USA Friendship CUP T20 tournament which gets underway in Houston, Texas on April 11.

Former Pakistan leg-spinner, Danish Kaneria and batsman Faisal Iqbal, along with former West Indies fast bowler, Jermaine Lawson, will turn out for the Houston Eagles, while the Boom Boob Blasters will engage the services of 24 year-old Pakistan left-handed batsman, Nasir Jamshed, former West Indies and USA fast bowler, Adam Sanford and India First Class player, Kevin Desai. Kaneria played 61 test matches, taking 261 wickets at an average of 34.79. He last played for Pakistan in 2010, while Iqbal played 26 tests and 18 One Day Internationals, with his highest test score of 139. Jermaine Lawson played 13 tests for the West Indies between 2002 and 2005. His best match figures was in 2003 when he decimated the Australians, picking up 7 for 78.

Turning out for the Boom Boom Blasters will be 24 year-old Pakistani, Nasir Jamshed, who played 2 test matches  against South Africa last year, and  Adam Sanford, who represented the West Indies, Leeward Islands , Windward Islands and the USA. Sanford played in 11 test matches for the West Indies, and played in his last test match in 2004 in Port of Spain. His last game for the USA was against Denmark in Sharjah last year.

Speaking about the progress of the tournament, USA Friendship Cup President, Sunju Patel, said that he is pleased with the overall response the tournament has receive so far, and pledges, along with his management team, to make this a very memorable tournament.  In the weeks leading up to the competition, several other teams will be announcing International stars who will be coming in to take part in the tournament.
