63 degrees! It wasn’t quite the Florida weather everyone was expecting as the 3rd annual Florida Cricket Academy Invitational Tournament got on it way. That did not deter the young eager players from Midwest Cricket Academy, Cricket Academy USA, New York Region U-19 and the host Florida Cricket Academy.

Friday’s matches were dominated by the two tournament co-favorites with N.Y. putting on a dominating performance to look the team to beat.

FCA took on CCUSA
Result Florida Cricket Academy won by 8 wickets highlighted by Steven Taylor’s 5 for 17 in 8 overs and a fine knock of 54 of 38 balls by Ryan Ramnarine finishing the match with back to back to back sixes to bring up his half century in the process.

New York vs. MCA
Result NY Regional U-19 won by 9 wickets highlighted by Syed Hussain 4 for 12 in 6.0 overs and Trevor Singh 40 n.o.

Saturday were once again dominated by New York and FCA

NY vs. CCUSA
New York was powered to an 88 run win as Rafeek Nazeer 57 n.o., Randall Wilson 38, Clifford Hamilton 26 n.o. and Trinson Carmichael’s 5 for 22 in 7.4 overs.
Highlights for CCUSA were Samarth Barot 3 for 34 in 8.0 overs,  Viraj Patel 46, Sunny Aggarwal 28 and Asad Khan 19.

Trinson Carmichael was named best bowler of the tournament.

FCA vs. MCA
Florida Cricket Academy won by 292 runs as Steven Taylor single handedly dismantled the MCA attack scoring 189 runs, Omari Williams 75, Zachary Sattaur 37

Sunday saw the match everyone was waiting for as a large crowd came out to see what worked out to be the tournament championship match. The two undefeated teams with New York being a regional were heavily favored.  All the sponsors, and local and National cricket representative there to support the youths.

The weather was warm and comfortable for a great match. Toss Florida Cricket Academy won the toss and batted first. Result Florida Cricket Academy won by 34 runs.

FCA was power to 235 for 8 wicket(s) in 40.0 overs. Omari Williams 62, Zachary Sattaur 61, Steven Taylor 33 with strong bowling by Ryan Ramnarine 3 for 10 in 3.4 over(s), Shaquile Forbes 2 for 35 in 8.0 over.

New York ended with 201 all out in 37.4 overs with Trinson Carmichael 61, Syed Hussain 27, Jazib Tariq 23.

A well executed plan by FCA Captain Taylor on the field had FCA on top all the way as wickets fell regularly and a solid 126 run partnership between Sattaur and Williams for FCA set the stage to take advantage of the last 10 overs with only 2 wickets down.

  1. This successful tournament showed added evidence that we have great potentials among our youthful cricketers in this country. For them to get better, and for cricket in the USA to get better, the “big men” handling the various cricket administrations must do the right things. They must work to improve the game and not to embellish their power.

    Cpngratulations to all the youngsters who contributed to making this event a success. To Trevor Singh, Trinson Carmichael, Steven Taylor, Ryan Ramnarine and the rest of the guys…Keep up the Good Work.

    It is good to see the youths are still playing cricket in 63 degrees it would help them a lot , what about the senior players just couple weeks in Florida, they too need match pratice, and i do hope this new selection body make a different.
