Long Island United won the toss and decided to bat first and found themselves in trouble very early when Amarnath Persaud was introduce into the attack.
In his very first over Persaud had Asim bowled for a duck then he had Asom Kadir caught brilliantly by Ken Nandkumar, the reliable Selwyn Mohan walk to the crease and was out first ball plumb LBW for a duck, it was 4 for 33 at that stage.
With some excellent batting by Salaam Khan, Asim, Sajjad and the young Anwer Khan see LIU get to a respectable total, they ended up with 134 for 8 off 20 overs.
Meten-Meer-Zorg started their innings with USA national player Azurdeen Mohammed and the veteran Ken Nandkumar, Mohammed was first to go caught for 2 off the young under 19 fast bowler Anwer Khan, the dependable Deonauth Baksh was out caught in the gully off Khan for 4. MMZ was in trouble at 10 for 2.
Zaaid Majeed was promoted to number 4 and he was out bowled off an inside edge off Anwer Khan for a duck. Travis Ross didn’t last long as he was out caught for 12.
Nandkumar batted well for 31, USA under 19 player Amarnath Persaud came in and played some fine shots for a well played 25, with the MMZ boys needed 25 of 2 overs it was left to the skipper Ajaz Asgarally and New York under player Rocky Kowchai to finish the job. In the 19th over Asgarally and Kowchai took 17 runs off the pacer, with eight needed in the final over. Kowchai finishes it with a huge straight six it was all over with three balls to spare.
Finals score in the match: LIU 134 for 8 off 20 overs, Asim Khan 23, Sajjid Khan 22 and Salaam Khan 20.
Bowling for MMZ, Amarnath Persaud 3 for 14 off 4 overs.
MMZ 135 for 7 off 19.3 overs, Ken Nandkumar 31, Amarnath Persaud 25, Ajaz Asgarally 22 not out and Rocky Kowchai 14 not out.
Bowling for LIU Anwer Khan 3 for 30 off 4 overs.
MMZ who have gained a win from Hillside who cannot field a team for the game that was schedule for 11am, has now won 2 and lost 1 and is hoping to finish in the top two in their group.

i think ali i am gonna recruit adnan, adam sanford, lawson AND Gordon to come and join you guys for the next match against the cheating everest to give them a beat down they’ll never forget…PS: just tell the league to keep 3 NOT 1 ambulance on hand as i will have all these very very fast and dangerous bowlers instructed for body line bowling…make sure you all are well protected sons! definitely next season we’ll be out to cause grievous bodily harm to those upstarts at MMZ….viva paki power!!!! @owzat!!! btw we did win against everest and I think they are one of the most decent and respectable teams in the league – also the only decision the umpires got wrong in the game went in our favor and Everest cap. was very gracious in accepting the decision lets give respect where its due.
