(Celebrating 29th Anniversary):- Sohan Dass produced an excellent all-round performance as Cosmos stroll to a convincing 7-wicket victory over Pioneer last Sunday at Gateway Park in the opening round of the Metropolitan Cricket League Challenge Cup competition.

Cosmos approach in this rematch appeared more measured after a lost to pioneer in the round ribbon competition earlier in the season. Dass, the most experienced player on the team, was the pick of the bowlers as he delivered a military spell of medium swing bowling bagging 4 for 21 that left pioneer limping on 69 for 8, after they had won the toss and elected to bat. Rasheem James delivered in an unusually tidy opening spell to return with figures of 2 for 22, while Ricky Kissoon, 2 for 10, and Sajib Salam 2 for 32 further squeezed the pioneer lower order batsmen before they were bundled out for a paltry 107 all out.

In reply, Cosmos got off to a shaky start after FaisaL taj and James for some bizarre reasons wanted to finish the game in two overs. However, they ended up watching from their seats as Ahsan Riaz and Cassius Burton repaired the cosmos inning with a solid 53-runs partnership before Riaz played down the wrong line and lost his off stump.

At 65 for 3, Dass and Burton combined for an unbroken 43-runs 4th wicket partnership. Burton stroked his way to a solid half century off 39-balls while Dass was in an aggressive mode. He raced to 30 in just 11 balls that included three towering sixes as Cosmos knocked off their target in just 16 overs.

Cosmos will play Mid Island next Sunday at Floyd Bennett.
