Cricket: National Super League Championships
Opportunity for hopefuls at Senior Men's and Under-19 levels Nov. 13th, 2009 The 2009 USA Senior Men’s National Championship and Under-19 Training Camp will take place from November 13-15 in Lauderhill and Cooper City, Florida. The Senior Men’s USA Team for 2010 ICC tournaments in Dubai, UAE and Nepal, and possibly the 2010 T20 World Cup, along with the Under-19 USA Team for the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup scheduled for January in New Zealand, will be selected after the Lauderhill USACA National Super League Tournament and Trials. Manaf Mohamed USACA’s 2nd VP and Director of Cricket Operations and the USACA Cricket Committee have been working tirelessly with CEO Don Lockerbie and a Local Organizing Committee in Florida, to ensure a professionally run tournament at the Broward County Regional Park facility and the Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City. The Broward County Regional Park, at Lauderhill, Florida, is the only ICC ODI sanctioned facility in the USA. The USA National Championships will see two Eastern and two Western Conference finalists represented by New York and the South East Regions, and Central East and West Regions, respectively. Players representing those regions will be under the watchful eyes of the national selectors and recently reappointed National Senior Men’s coach Clayton Lambert, as they vie for places on the USA Senior Men’s team, as well as some of the USA All America Under-19 players seeking to retain or earn spots on the Senior Men’s squad and/or the USA Under-19 squad headed for the ICC Under-19 World Cricket Cup in New Zealand next January. The Super League Weekend event will also include training camps for both the Senior Men’s and Under-19 squads with several invited probables. New ICC Americas coach Andy Pick will be on hand to offer technical assistance to the USA national coaches. All teams are expected
to be in Florida by this Thursday, with the National Senior Men’s
Semi-Final; New York Region vs. South West Region, and in Semi-Final
2; Central East Region vs. South East Region On Saturday, the 3rd Place finish match will start at 9:30 AM at Brian Piccolo Park, at the same time as the National Championship Final is played at the Central Broward Regional Park, along with the second Under-19 Training & Fitness Evaluation Camp at Brian Piccolo Park. Sunday, November 15 will see the final Under-19 Training & Fitness Evaluation Camp conducted at Brian Piccolo Park, and a Senior Men’s Team 50-Overs match and/or a Twenty/20 Performance Evaluation match played at the Central Broward Regional Park. All matches will be played under the standard ICC
ODI rules and as local venue conditions permit, using white balls
and colored uniforms. |
