Villagers Outplay Mid Island

In the Metropolitan Cricket League Division One league on Sunday 17th May played at Gateway park, Brooklyn. Villagers defeated Mid Island by 93 runs.

The game was reduced to 35 overs each and Mid Island won the toss and sent Villagers to bat on a damp pitch. Villagers was in early trouble losing 2 wickets for 22 runs in 7 overs. But number four batsman Andrew Gonsalves joined opener Akeem Dodson in a 3rd wicket partnership worth a massive 220 runs in 21 overs.

Gonsalves made 128, striking 15 fours and seven sixes in an awesome display. He hit 29 runs from one over. Dodson was also brilliant hitting 116 that comprised 17 fours and two sixes.

Captain Ordelmo Peters made 22 not out as. Villagers amassed 308 for 5 wickets in 35 overs. Bowling for Mid Island Clem Thompson took one for 42 from six overs. M. Gayle one for 36 from, D.Clarke and E.Pinnock took one wicket each.

Mid Island in reply was restricted to 215 for 9 wickets in their 35 overs.

Captain .Thompson topscored with 88. He hit 13 fours and two sixes two sixes. Ian Grizzle contributed 33 and Joseph Ledwidge 22 and Leedra Walters 20.

Bowling for Villagers Dillon Bourne had 2 for 58, Joel Persaud 2 for 4 and, Maurice Powell 2 for 44 from7 overs. Ahmad Dodson, Ewart Gayle and Sam Belnavis took one wicket each.
