In Zone I, Canada is a lock for making it to the semi finals unless they get pummeled by Dream Team tomorrow who needs to win to get to the semifinals. Like Canada, WISA should make it to the semi finals quite easily. They take on Better Hope All Stars who got their tail whipped by NYSCL. Ocala and Orlando have yet to register a win while South Florida and Better Hope are barely alive with one win apiece. The following are the results from the games completed in Session II of Day one. I South Florida beat Dream Team by five wickets in what is considered to be the upset of the day. Dream Team batted first and made a respectable 204 for 9. Nayeem Mohamed made 56 while Brian Maniram scored his second half century of the day with an even 50. Eon Ellis contributed with 37. Sudesh bagged 4 for 24. South Florida lost early wickets and at one stage needed almost 150 runs in fifteen overs with only five wickets in hand. Thanks to Ravi and Prashad’s heroic innings, of 66 and 64 respectively South Florida pulled out the win to stay alive in the competition. Zone
II NYSCL destroyed
Better Hope All Stars by a whopping 238 runs. NYSCL batted first
and made 315 for 5. Andrew Gonsalves made an even hundred. S. Panday
and Kris Sobhai contributed 58 and 53 respectively. Better Hope
in reply was bundled out for a meager 77. A. Moonsammy took top
honors in the bowling department with 4 for 15 R. Prahalad supported
him well with 3 for 11. Dream Team, Ocala, Canada and South Florida are grouped in Zone I while NYSCL, WISA, Orlando and Better Hope All Stars are in Zone II. The following are the results from the games completed earlier. Zone
I
Canada beat South Florida by 14 runs. Canada took first strike and made 152 for 6 off the allotted 25 overs. Y. Bogh top scored with 50. A. Shamsudden, H. Chattergoon and T. Yusuf contributed 28, 25 and 22 respectively. A. Ramsaywack and J. Ali took two wickets apiece. South Florida replied with 138 all out. Z. Razak top scored with 28. Canada’s A. Shamsudden and A. Singh took three wickets apiece while S. Balkarran took two wickets for nineteen runs. Zone
II Better Hope All Stars beat Orlando by seven wickets. Orlando batted first and made 167 all out. Irshad Adam top scored with 53. Sunil Ramkissoon took 3 wickets for 8 runs. He took a Hat Trick with the inning’s last three deliveries. Better Hope replied with 173 for 3 off 24.3 overs. Fidel Razak top scored with 53 not out. He was support by Ion Baldeo 46 and Trevor Persaud 27 not out. |
