Meet Bollywood Through Sunder Cup
By Lloyd Jodah August 12th, 2009 Saturday August 15th Montgomery will play vs an Allstar Team at the 17th Annual Sundar Memorial Event then be VIPs at the Bollywood Divas Night show featuring.Tanushree Dutta, Koena Mitra, Rakhi Sawant, Preeti Jhiangiani and Mahalakshmi Iyer in NY. The school is a 20/20 powerhouse which regularly put up scores of over 200 in winning the 2009 American College Cricket Championship. The Sundar Memorial Event is a tradition in US cricket, started 17 years ago by Ray Sundar to honor the memory of his father Harry Sundar, and will be a 20/20 Double-Header. Young cricket stars feel honored to get the call to play for Sundar, like NFL stars want to be in the All-Madden Team. Under 19 USA All-American
Greg Sewdial (Hofstra) will captain the Sunder Allstars in the feature
game at 1 pm. The preliminary game at 10 am will be NY Under 17
Allstars vs CT Under 17 Allstars for the Legends of Port Mourant
Trophy. On the sidelines Coaching will be provided to boys, so bring
your sons and share this beautiful game that shaped you as a man.
Bindu Kohli of the Bollywood Divas Nite Show said, "We are really happy to bring Bollywood to American cricket and celebrate the first American College Cricket Champions. As we have seen in India there is a natural relationship, manifested in the IPL." A thrilled Adil Bhatti, Captain of the College Champions declared, "The whole Montgomery Team is excited! We play cricket because we love it, and winning the Chanderpaul Trophy at the 2009 American College Championship was a fantastic reward. Now to be meeting beautiful Bollywood stars, .... man this is like a dream. But we're focused cricketers...we want to take the Sundar Trophy back to Maryland. The college is starting a Cricket Trophy Collection". Andy Mohammed, who is playing for the USA in its efforts to be in the World Cup (T20 Under 19) countered, " Maybe CUNY can win the College Championship next year!....right now I'm honored to help the Sundar XI keep the Trophy in NY." The Sundar Allstars include: Henry Wardley (McGill), who has been playing in England after recently scoring the most runs for the USA at the Under 19 ICC Tournament in Canada; Andy Mohammed (CUNY) who scored a century at the USA (East) Trials; Brian Adjodha (UConn), a strokeplayer in the Kanhai-vein, with the US's best cover drive; Chad Munroe (UConn), a big Chris Gayle-like hitter of the ball; Robin Das (St John's), recent MVP of the NYC High School Cricket League.
