Cosmos In Liberty Land
(Celebrating 26 Anniversary)- Cosmos cruise to an easy five wickets victory over Liberty last Sunday at the Finnegan Recreation Center in Philadelphia.

Ricky Kissoon

Liberty after winning the toss and elected to bat were pegged back by a good opening spell from Sham Ali and former Guyana National fast bowler Kevin Darlington. Cosmos, after letting their guard down last week against Lucas and then found themselves fighting 'tooth and nail' to squeezed a tie, did not take any chances against this opposition. Captain Ricky Kissoon introduced himself into the attack immediately with his left arm orthodox spin to kept the pressure on Liberty batsmen. R. Jashwal got 47 and O. Watson got 30. Bowling for Cosmos R. Kissoon took 4 for 23, T. Surujballi 2 for 44 and M. Kissoon 2 for 23, before Liberty was reduced to 159 off their 40 overs against a 'tidy' Cosmos spinning attack.

Cosmos in reply, got off to a shaky start when Leikram Latchman was dubiously adjudged caught down the leg side in the first over. Shafeek Shah and former Trinidad National Youth player Timothy Surujballi then featured in a 78 runs partnership at the water interval. Shafeek Shah once again got into the twenties before he succumbed to fatigue. Timothy Surujballi stroked an impressive 66 and N. Hutchinson got 22 in another 47 runs partnership for the third wicket. Imran Mohamed failed to fire once again. It was left to the veteran Wayne Stuger and Sham Ali secure a comfortable five-wicket victory with a few nervous batsmen padded up, and worried looking captain on the boundary line.
