Sean Siloch Slams Massive Ton

(Clarke Road United Tour to New York)- A brilliant unbeaten century from Trinidad's & Tobago national Twenty/20 player Sean Siloch followed by a bombardment of spin attack combined give the touring Clarke Road United team a convincing victory over hosts Cosmos at picturesque Gateway Park, Brooklyn last Thursday.

Sean Siloch

Opening batsman Sean Siloch was in vintage mood as he tuck, glide and crafted his inning with precision and an array of carefully selected strokes. Siloch was severely punishing to any ball that was short or wide and opened the face of his bat to the well pitched up deliveries. He chiseled his century in uncomplicated fashion only to unleash a series of immaculately executed blows to all parts of the ground in the closing overs. Siloch blasted 10 fours and 8 sixes to remain unbeaten on a record 152 not out.

It was a solid second wicket partnership of 156 runs between the right handed Siloch and the left handed Gregory Mohabir (56) that laid the foundation for Clarke Road and thus setting the stage for a fireworks finished as Cosmos would give up another 104 runs in the last ten overs. Clarke Road ended their inning on a mammoth 305 for 4 off 40 overs.

Cosmos in reply, were off to a good start. Opening batsmen Martin Nurse and Vinord Woolcock posted a good opening stand of 94 runs in 15 overs at the water interval. However, when Nurse’s mistimed pull landed safely in the hands of the mid off fielder, Clarke Road bowlers pounce on the break through opportunity and proceeded to spin a web around Cosmos's batsmen who had very few answers to the variety of spin. Clarke Road team a completed a well deserved victory on this historic tour by a handsome margin.

The large crowd on hand for a Thursday match admired every ounce of the professionalism displayed by this young touring team, and the high standard high of cricket played. The management of Clarke Road United, Mr. Baldath Mahabir and his Staff must be complimented for their efforts and dedication in grooming such a young, talented group It was also refreshing to be in the company of two former Trinidad & Tobago national players in Mahadeo Bodoe and Mukesh Persaud, both of whom have graced Cosmos over the years.

The highlight of the day however, belongs to young and promising Sean Siloch who entertained the crowd with an epic batting display, spanking one of the highest individual scores at Gateway.

Clarke Road will play Pakistan on Friday June 11, an All Star Team on Tuesday June 15, Guyana on Thursday June 17, and Trinidad on Friday June 18.
