Interview with Sammi Siddiqui...

What are you looking forward to most in this tournament?

I am looking forward to playing against countries such as India, Australia, and South Africa. These are test playing nations and I want to see where we stand compared to these cricketers. I am also looking forward to upsetting one or more of these nations.

Tell us about the first time you put on a USA cap?
The first time I put on a USA cap was in my hotel room before our first match. In that moment I felt a great sense of pride and accomplishment. It was easily one of the highlights of my life so far.
Have you met any of your cricket heroes?

Umm, not really. However, there are several cricketers in my state whose games I really look up to. I get lots of chances to interact and play with them. I try to absorb as much from them as possible.

Where do you see USA finishing in the ICC Under-19 Tournament?
As a competitor I would like to say one, but realistically that is something very very unlikely. Personally, my goal for this team is to give a hundred percent and play to our maximum potential. If we do that I will be satisfied, and we may also be looking at a top ten finish.

Do you have any particular goals you want to achieve in your career?
My ultimate cricketing goal would be to play and perform well for the USA Senior Team.

Who have been the biggest influences on you as a player?
My biggest influences on me as a player have been my coaches. Mostly notable amongst them are Owen Graham, and Malcolm Nash.

Who is your idol growing up?
My favorite cricketer was Imran Nazir because of his athleticism.
Do you have a curfew?
At home? On tour?... at home, depends on my dad's mood. On tour, yes.

Do you have a nickname?
Not really a prevalent one.

What other sport do you play?
I played basketball, tennis, and ran cross country in high school. Since starting college I mostly have time for cricket only.

What other sport would had prefer to play beside cricket?
I have tried my hand in all the sports that I was interested in.
