August 22, 2009
The West Indian Softball Association’s 30 Over competition will enter the playoff phase on Sunday August 23rd 2009, except for its Division IV tier. That Division will have its Final play at Dr. Charles Drew Park at Van Wyck and 115 Ave.

Royal Challengers and Tamarind Root will square off for the Division IV title starting at 1:00pm. Royal Challengers beat MRI and Tamarind Root beat Caribbean Stars to set up that much anticipated showdown.

In the Premier Elite division, the first of two quarter finals will see defending champions Cornered Tigers take on Richmond Hill who needed to and won their game against United last week to secure a playoff berth. The second quarter finals will be between Connecticut’s Rising Stars and United at Charles Drew. Dynasty and Wild Bunch drew byes to the semi finals by virtue of their stellar regular season play.

The Premier division will have their quarter final games played at Indian Field and Alley Pond. Young Gunz will take on the recently relegated President XI team and Deluxe will do battle with Rebels who was also recently relegated. Jumadeen’s Hurricanes and Matai’s Canje drew byes to the semi finals.

Division I’s quarter final play will see the Mohan lead Ocean’s XI against Next Generation at Alley Pond. Archer and Chargers will square off at Southern Park. Caribbean goes up against Sandals XI while the Morgan lead Queens Village CC battles Williamsburg.

In division II, Everest battles United B at Carnarsie, Local Boys tackles Brooklyn/Queens at Carnarsie, Algu’s Ankerville takes on Braves at Alley Pond and Diamond Star goes up against Ozone XI Roy Wilkens.

In Division V, Tropical Thunder is hoping to strike Brooklyn Boys, Long Beach is hoping to ‘beach’ Royals, Steve’s Jaguars will try to out run Sukhai’s Supersonics and Crabwood Creek will try to ‘touch up’ Untouchables.
