Indian Softball Association (WISA) Week 3 – Round Up Premier
Elite Division The outcome, Dynasty won by three wickets and a few overs to spare. It was much closer than the margin suggests. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Majestics was off to cautious start and was 36 for 1 at the end of the eight over. Dynasty took the wickets of Satish Wilfred, Vish Persaud and Majestics’ skipper Shashi Wilfred in relatively quick succession to reduce them to 69 for 4 after the fifteenth over. At that stage, it was thought that Majestics would fold under 100 runs but that was not the case. Former Assissins captain Ravi Etwaroo joined Devin Kishun to frustrate Dynasty’s bowling. Together they put on 59 runs before Kishun was caught of the bowling of Moe Khan for a well played 33. Etwaroo soon followed for a timely knock of 32 and Majestics would post a respectable 146 for 8 off their allotted 25 overs. Anil Kissoon took three wickets while Ricky Narine and Moe Khan took two wickets a piece. When Dynasty took crease, the familiar duo of Vicky Subkarran and Kenny Balkaran opened their batting. They batted cautiously against Vish Persaud and Sunil Dilchand. With the score at 45, Balkaran was bowled by Majestics skipper’s first ball. Majestics struck again with the wicket of Dynasty’s captain, Subkarran who was caught off the bowling of Dilchand for 30. History has it, once Subkaran is out the other team can wrap up the game. However, when these two teams are playing, ‘R. Narine (Buns) has Ravi Etwaroo’s number’. And so history was on Dynasty’s side this time. Prasana Malipaul joined ‘Buns’ and the two put on 50 before Malipaul was out for one of his usual patient inefficient contributions. This time it was 10. ‘Buns’ took on Etwaroo and negotiated Majestics’ other bowlers well for a match winning 54. B. Narine and Anil Kissoon were at the wicket when Dynasty achieved their target. G. Ramnarine (Joe) was Majestics’ most successful bowler with three wickets. In the other two games, Wild Bunch kept its unbeaten streak at Ocean XI’s expense while Warriors beat Rebels. Premier
Division In Division I, Crushers and United win to stay unbeaten. T. Gobin’s 102 not out was enough to stave off Richmond Hill. Triumph and Rumors are undefeated in Division II while Bronx Srtikers, Caribbean, Ozone XI, Long Beach All Stars and Good Times are all undefeated in Division III. West Indian
