Cornered
tigers continue to show their dominance in the WISA cricket league
when they toppled Majestic in the 30 over’s semi-finals. Led
by a charismatic century from Nayeem Mohamed that included 9x6’s
and 5x 4’s, they reached an impressive 206 for 8 in their allotted
thirty overs. Cornered tigers took first strike after winning the
toss and were immediately in trouble losing K. Gopaul with the score
on five. Tigers were looking to up the run rate but they lost their
second wicket with 19 on the board.

With
the tigers in a hole they needed a big partnership and that is what
they got. Nayeem Mohamed and Nayal Singh batted responsibly to take
the score to 79 for 2 at the end of fifteen overs. In the first over
after the break tigers up the run rate and they reached their first
hundred in the sixteen over and Nayeem Mohamed brought up his fifty.
N. Singh fell in the 25th over for well played 45 that included 3x4’s
and 3x6’s.
With the score on 150 for three they then batted brilliantly to take
the score to 206 for 8. It has been rumored that Cornered tigers have
one the strongest softball bowling lineup in the New York cricket
region and they proved that the rumor is true. None of the Majestic
batsman looked comfortable against the pace and variation that Cornered
Tigers Cricket Club possessed. Majestic was never in the game as they
lost wickets at regular intervals.
Tiger’s youth and talent proved to be too much for Majestic
as they were bundled out for a mere 136 in 29.2 overs. Cornered tigers
have only lost one game for the whole season so far. They are going
to play in the 30 over finals this Sunday against Dynasty.
This will be WISA biggest cricket final for the year. Cornered Tigers
and Dynasty are two of Wisa best teams in the league and to see these
two titans clash in the finals it will be a classic to remember. With
manager of the cornered tiger’s cricket club Imran Khan confident
in his team to win the final and D. Singh spree heading the bowling
for the young tigers it will be a game that will be a thriller this
Sunday at Charles Drew 115 avenue and the Van Wyck. The game will
start sharply at 1:00 o’ clock. It will be a family fun day.
So bring out your family and enjoy a lovely day of cricket.
