Liberty Knights Demolish Mafia

Liberty Knights started their 2008 cricket season with an emphatic victory in their opening match against Mafia played last Sunday at the Francis Lewis Park.

Taking first strike after winning the toss, Liberty Knights posted a challenging 157 all out off their allotted 25 overs to win by a comfortable 16 runs.

Liberty Knights opening batters Awan and Navin made a positive but cautious start to the innings posting 35 partnership for the first wicket. At the break Knights were 73 for the loss of 3 wickets.

Liberty Knights eventually posted 157 Runs off their allotted 25 overs with Awan making a carefully constructed 44 and Telston Johnson hitting a quickfire 22 off 8 deliveries.

When Mafia took strike, they found runs difficult to come with Walker bowling an excellent opening spell conceding just 15 runs from his five overs and picking up 1 wicket.

Mafia could only muster 142 off their 25 overs with their skipper V. Singh top scoring with a fighting 41 runs. Bowling for Liberty Knights, skipper Shaun picked up 4 wickets for 21 runs. Brian chipped in with 2 wickets and Ravi picked up 1 wicket.
